Footbag Clubs

I was looking at the Footbag.org website trying to find clubs in the Northeast Florida area. For a sport that started in the U.S. it sure seems to have more appeal and support overseas than here. There area approximately 183 United States clubs listed with this international organization and only 5 or 6 of those registered in Florida. And as I was looking over the various ones in the other states I notice a very curious thing. Most of the clubs have only 1 member. Can you really be a club of 1? I guess you can but they really should have another category such independent member or something. I think they just list anyone who has become a subscriber to their Groups Page. Most of the listings are even a few years old so there is no telling if the information is the same or not.

Most of these clubs do not even have a website of any kind. Some of them may have a group or forum page on Facebook or one of the other services but there are only a few that are actually kept up-to-date. I imagine that quite a few of the email addresses are not correct either. So determined was I to find other groups out there that I checked every single one of them and put a link to the ones that actually worked, were updated and/or at least had a news section, videos and pictures. They are listed under U.S. Footbag Clubs in our links section. Check it out!

Any members of the other clubs out there let me tell you if you really want to promote the Footbag sport for the fun and inexpensive exercise that it is then you really need to get a website going. There are still FREE website services out there that do not require you to know any web coding. Try www.webs.com, or even a free blog site that allows you to add pages, pictures and video such as http://posterous.com/. Take a few minutes to pick some colors, a layout, add a page or two and then upload some pictures, possibly a video, and finally add some info about the club such as the name, location, member profiles, where you practice, what events might be coming up in your area. Go wild! Have a Ball!

Email us when you are done so we can link to your site and get you some subscribers……

Oh! and go back to your account on footbag.org and update it with this latest edition.

Footbag Basics

We are gathering information and videos about the fun game of Hacky Sack or Footbagging. There is a very informative short article from E-How entitled: What is Hacky Sack that you should take a few minutes to read through. For the official version of the rules you should spend a few minutes at the official Footbag.Org website They go over the classification of players, the types of games, the physical properties of the footbag itself and a few other things.

You-tube is probably the best FREE source of instructional videos in the world. We are viewing the videos that are online and picking out some of the ones we feel will be the most beneficial. If you see one here or at another website lets us know and we will post it here.

There are other websites, books and videos about Hacky Sacks and/or Foot-Bagging all over the place including our own Bookstore page. The first step in learning any sport is to get out there and try! Remember you cannot become good at something until you actually put in the time, learn the rules, and practice, practice and practice!
